Information regarding Self-Certifying Students

Each morning, parents will be required to certify the health of their children. Specific information regarding this process will be sent this weekend, affording parents a chance to see the process prior to Monday morning.

If students are not health certified, they will be unable to board buses or attend school for the day. In the event the child is a walker, they will be helped to the office where they will await parent pick-up. Due to the fact that we do not have the staff to hold large numbers of students who have failed to be health certified, after a student has failed to be health certified three times, they will be moved to a remote classroom.

Here’s some helpful information from our State Agencies:

Showing symptoms?  Stay Home (taken from Restore Illinois: Phase 4, Joint Guidance from both ISBE & IDPH):

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The list does not include all possible symptoms. If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, please stay home.

If a school nurse has determined that your child should go home based on symptoms, please come immediately (within 30 minutes) to pick up your child.  Please ensure your emergency contacts are updated and current in the school office and that someone is available to pick up your child from school in the event you cannot. If you’d like to follow up with the nurse or building administrator please do so over the phone, after picking up your child.

The health and safety of our students, staff and families are at the forefront of our procedures. We want to ensure that the process runs smoothly and will need everyone’s participation to guarantee its effectiveness.
