Steps for Student Self-Certification Update

Gmail Sign InKindergarten, first and second graders now have email enabled on their district's Google accounts. Students simply need to click “Sign In” on the Gmail app to be ready for tomorrow. When receiving the email to self-certify, it is critically important that you do this promptly. The updated steps below will walk you through what you will need to do each morning prior to your child(ren) leaving your home.

You will only be contacted on the days that your child(ren) are in school. In-Person hybrid learners at Ridge will self-certify everyday. Remote learners will not need to self-certify. Self-certification must be done by a parent or guardian, children cannot self-certify.

At 5:45am each day, your child(ren) will receive a unique link in their email on each of their iPads. Parents must respond within the certification window in order for their child to attend In-Person learning for that day. No exceptions can be made.

Self-Certification Time Window

  • Ridge Early Childhood Center
    AM: 5:45am-7:00am
    PM: 10:00am-11:30am

  • Kerkstra and Foster Elementary Schools
    5:45am-7:30am

  • Jack Hille Middle School
    5:45am-7:00am

Once you answer the self-certification questions, and click submit, please take a screenshot of the page as this confirmation page MUST be shown to bus aides/drivers and staff members at the school entrances before being permitted on the bus or into school. Instructions for taking a screenshot and where the picture is located on the iPad can be found here.

Self-certification is an integral piece to being able to offer In-Person instruction and is a daily requirement for In-Person learners. Students who do not self-certify within the certification window will not be allowed to attend school that day. On the third instance of a child not being self-certified, that child will be moved to a remote only schooling option.
